The first Township Committee organized at a meeting held on April 1, 1853, at “The Inn of Henry Rockafellar” (Perryville Inn). The Township of Union was named after the “Union Furnace” built in 1742 on Spruce Run. The present governing body consists of five elected Committeemen serving for three years. The Township encompasses some 20 square miles. Resident population is 4,387. |
